About Epic Polymer
Epic: engineered compounds for your part
Polymer Plast Zeinali Co. produces and supplies polymer compounds and granules under the Epic brand, for the automotive, home-appliance and electrical industries, construction, packaging and injection-moulded parts. Our job is not to sell “a granule” but to match the grade to the part and to the line it runs on.
What does compounding add to a polymer?
Compounding means melt-blending a base polymer (for example polypropylene) with fillers such as talc and calcium carbonate, or with fibres, and with additives such as stabilisers, flame retardants and masterbatch. The result is a grade tuned to stiffness, dimensional stability, colour and cost.
Four numbers that decide the grade
- MFI (melt flow index): how freely the melt flows into the mould. A higher MFI makes thin, complex moulds easier to fill, usually at the cost of impact strength.
- Ash: the percentage of mineral filler. It shifts stiffness, shrinkage and cost.
- Density: rises with filler and sets the weight of the part; for example the white 31 % filler grade is about 1.20 g/cm³.
- Impact strength vs. stiffness: the two are always traded against each other; we choose the grade from what the part does (bumper trim, switch plate, appliance housing…), not from one number.
From need to grade in four steps
- Tell us the application and the process: injection, extrusion or blow moulding.
- Tell us your priorities: strength, MFI, colour, filler content.
- You receive the suggested grade or grades with an Epic datasheet. Datasheet values are typical, not guaranteed specifications, and the final choice rests with the technical specialist.
- We arrange the sample and the next steps.
